2015 Annual Membership Summit

The 2015 CSLA Annual Membership Summit was held April 27 & 28 at the Best Western Sutter House in Sacramento , CA.  More than 50 members and staff attended the  Summit which was convened in memory of Senior Leader Marvin Schachter, class of 2005. The Summit was sponsored by generous  grants from the Wellness  and Archstone Foundations.

Day one of the Summit  began with a moving video tribute  and personal  reflections  about  Marvin Schachter  All of the workshops were conducted by CSLA members including Bob Prath and Sandy Hester on the Village Movement, Maxine Toler on the Coordinated  CareInitiative; Fran Johns on her work on Compassionate Choices.    and Antonio Rodella gave an update on SB 391 California Homes and Jobs Act.  Executive Associate, Carolyn Fowler presented a Media Workshop.   To  closeout the day,  two new Senior Leaders were recognized for 2015, Sandra Hall and John Pointer.  Special recognition awards were also given to Meredith Minkler, CSLP  Founder Emeritus and Colleen Leahy for her dedication by attending meetings and taking notes for her mother CSLA member,  Linda Leahy who is deaf.   Assembly member Cheryl Brown, Chair of the Aging and Long Term Care Assembly Committee was the dinner speaker.

Day two, Advocacy teams of CSLA members visited the capitol and met with more than a dozen legislators and their  staff to discuss pending legislation on SB128 and introduce them to the Alliance.
